There is no better time than a new season to update your skincare regime, or if you’ve been a little rubbish over the Summer think of Autumn as the fresh start your skin needs.
Here are my top tips to keep your skin glowing throughout the colder weather.
Don’t skip on your moisturiser
This is non negotiable especially in colder months. If I could moisturise all day every day I would. Now is the time to invest in a good quality moisturiser and get into the routine of using this twice a day if possible. An ideal time is after a shower or bath when you can lock in the moisture whilst your skin is still a little damp. My favourite and one that I constantly go back to is the Body Shop coconut body butter from £13 – pricey but lasts a good amount of time and I am yet to find one to match up to this.
Add a facial oil to your regime
This is a quick-fire way of adding that much needed hydration to your skin in colder months especially if you sit under air conditioning/heaters all day. I apply every evening after I have cleansed my face and before my moisturiser. If you don’t want to spend a lot, try the Vitamin E facial oil from Superdrug for less than £5.
Don’t forget your hands
Now Autumn is upon us it is the perfect time to invest in a good quality hand cream. I am guilty of forgetting my hands. Invest in a cuticle oil and treat your neglected hands to a little pamper. I’m office based so I keep a hand cream on my desk next to my sanitizer to remind myself to keep them nourished, if you can’t do this, leave one next to your bed and apply just before you go to sleep. My favourite is the Almond milk and honey protecting hand cream from the Body shop for just £5.
Reach for the mask
To give your skin that extra boost, apply a face mask at least once a week. Getting into the routine of pampering once a week is an ideal time to give yourself a little self-care. I use the hydrating masks from Garnier, they are amazing, can be used even on the most sensitive of skin and cost less than £3.
Clear out your skincare
Okay so an Autumn clean doesn’t have the same ring to it as a Spring clean, but any change of season is a perfect time to clear out any products that you don’t use or those that may be out of date. I also use this an excuse to buy new products and who doesn’t love spending money?
