For anyone who knows me personally, has been following me on Instagram or reading my blogs you will know I am not a ‘New year, new me’ kind of girl.
Because I believe every day is a new chance to learn, to grow and to change within ourselves, however one thing I do like new year for is the chance to close a door on a particular time, whether its been a good/terrible or just a nothing exciting has happened kind of year.
So, what am I grateful for this year? I’m grateful for my tiny family and my small group of friends who somehow feel like my family. Grateful for the challenges I’ve faced not just this year but in the past too, grateful for all my new learnings and grateful for the times that have tested not only my strength but also my resilience.
For the times that have felt too much, times where I have felt unable to breathe, I am grateful for those times as I have truly learnt how to deal with things in a much calmer way. I’ve learnt to not only forgive myself but forgive others.
I’ve learnt what it is like to truly listen to someone, to understand why they feel the way they do and put away my phone from the table. I’ve learnt to realise that social media should be fun, it shouldn’t make you feel bad about yourself and if it does then unfollow, delete, block.. do anything you can to put yourself first.
I’ve learnt that not everyone has the same heart as you, and sometimes when you’re broken you probably wont stick back the way you once was, but you just adapt and learn to love the new version of you. I’ve learnt that sometimes you’re not going to get the closure you want or you deserve and sometimes you have to accept things for the way they are.
So, my goals for 2020?
Listen to others, be compassionate, be understanding, be present.
And more than anything, make myself proud for all I have achieved and all that is yet to come.
Happy 2020, lets make it our best year yet.
